The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Orchard

In February 2022 the Parish Council with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CW&C) planted a community orchard on land off Gorsefield which is owned by CW&C.

CW&C provided 40 trees which were planted by volunteers on 24th February 2022.

The trees planted were a variety of fruit trees including apple, pear, plum, damson and quince in addition to hazelnut trees and a Walnut Tree.

The Orchard has been registered as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and can be found on the online map.

The Parish Council has agreed that it wished to maintain the Orchard in as natural way as possible so as to benefit the environment, encouraging wildflowers and the creation of natural habitats for insects and wildlife.

It is proposed to mow the orchard in line with creating a wildflower meadow, strimming around the trees as necessary and mowing path through the Orchard.
