The Parish Council would like your views on whether we should work towards creating a Multiuse Games Area (MUGA) and providing some outdoor gym equipment.
The MUGA would be fenced and have a solid surface lined for various sports and would be intended for ad hoc games rather than booked formal matches. Along with any outdoor gym equipment it would be free to use.
We are not considering providing lighting for either the MUGA or gym equipment.

A MUGA would be a good addition to the local community, but personally the village is crying out for a scooter and bike track – pump track some call it. Many villages such as Waverton and Christleton. Already you may have noticed a good half a dozen or so children are using the zip wire mound as a bike jump.
I think lighting is a must for the MUGA so that it can be used in the evening from October to March – I think it should be used for formal games and the sustainability of the facility will depend on it being booked and hired for a charge. I liked the idea of this beig provided for/ at the school as it will also serve as providing a drained area for the chdilren to play sport in Winter. Perhaps the flacca organisation could run it?
As for the outdoor gym equipment as this is likely to be used by the retired this can be without lights as it can be used in the week in the daytime.
As a very experienced Army Officer, I have seen many camps install the gym equipment with good intentions.
It is possibly the most underused bits of kit I have seen (and that’s saying something for the MOD). Considering this is from people that are obligated to conduct physical activity, it gives you a sense of actual benifit.
I would urge you to not waste public money or at the very least look into the usage from other communities that have installed it already before it becomes and unused maintenance burden.
